Under the gun...

I promised myself, and other people, that I'd post a poem of mine in honor of National Poetry Month. I'm a woman of my word ;)

There was a point in time when I was very shy and reluctant to share my thoughts, verbally and on paper; opinion or feelings. So this blog in a sense fulfills these wishes and has become a place of growth for me.

I wrote this on a train ride to work last year...I was in a real transformational place, the rumblings of an awakening. It's still happening but it's motivating to see from which I've come. Also, I'm amazed that I wrote something coherent at 9ish a.m. on the downtown 2/3. I'm trying to be a better morning person.

my brain is so fertile
sprouting dreams
planting seeds of hope
for blossoming love
the pesky weeds are gone
well, slowly dying off...
trying to resurface
but cannot emerge
in this new climate
I'm saving my environment
the atmosphere changed
negativity no longer a parasite
my buds of prosperity are in bloom
neutralizing those vermin of doubt and insecurity
I accept my choices
and know they are right!
my garden is lush
with content, and contentment
its almost time to harvest
my creative fertilizer feeds this new growth
absorbing the suns rays
cultivating divinity
in my own Garden of Eden
paradise is not lost
it's within
