I've wanted to start this as a column type thing series called "I'm not hatin'" on the blog becuase I like to gripe sometimes. I am not trying to be mean or "hate" or whatever. There are some things out there that are undeniably wack, ridiculous, unacceptable, appalling, comical that you have to tell the truth. And why does it so bothersome to (ignorant) people when we, as goddesses, disprove of something and have an opinion that they are comfortable stating? Often, in my experience, it's insecure men who seem to be the ones to pose such questions. If someone is asking you "why you always hatin'?," tell them to stop hatin' them damn selves and to listen to what you are actually saying. Or to mind their f*ckin' business.
Onto the first installment...
So I'm cruisin' the channels after The Daily Show and found VH1's celebreality show, "Glam God with Vivica A. Fox" and knew that I should immediately change the channel before my eyes glaze over and another hour of my life is wasted. I can think of much better ways to kill brain cells. So around 40 seconds into the trailer, I am strongly questioning why Vivica A. Fox is qualified to be the host of anything regarding style. When I think of stylish celebs the first person that comes to mine is not Vivica Fox. I'm thinking Jada, Halle, Rihanna, Queen Latifah, Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Madonna, Angelina, etc. She's a big star; yes. She is also attractive. But she is a fairly random choice. And I don't get down with plastic surgery. Yuck. It's extra painful to me when black women get it...I shake my head.
Anyway, I enter exhibit A, B, C, D-Z of why this show is some bullshit. Take note at second 39 and for the next 3 minutes and 12 seconds you will see Vivica "styled" in tacky outfit after tacky outfit/hairdo. There's 1 or 2 decent looks but the evidence will speak for itself.
The verdict: I'm not hatin', I'm critically thinking. And I might still watch the shit if I'm bored or need something completely mindless after a long day of trying to save the world. I'm not perfect.
(Thanks Sparkle for inspiring this post; you have beautiful energy)
