I'll Be a Wife, But Never a Bride!

Why do people think it's okay to impose their values on others? I say "I'm engaged!" People say "When's the wedding? and you better invite me!" All assumptions that I want a wedding and I want to invite them. I guess that means that they'd invite me to their wedding but I never said I wanted a wedding. Getting married doesn't mean you have to have a wedding. If I was a guy would everyone be asking me "Have you set a date yet?"

And for the past 6 years I wasn't even interested in getting married it's only in 2008 I allowed myself to think about being in a relationship and be someone's wife. I wrote a blog in 2007 called "Why I don't believe in having a boyfriend!"
Although my attitude about getting married changed once I realized that Mr. Right was right under my nose all along, I've never been one of those girls who fantasized about what my wedding gown would look like and what my bridesmaids would wear. When I dreamed of getting married all I ever saw me and the groom outside in a park or at the beach . . . natural, sweet and simple. An earthy wedding for an earth goddess. I'm bohemian chic not traditional glamour girl. I don't read Vogue magazine or Essence. I have a much different view of the world.

I've come to realize that getting married would only be simple if you don't tell anyone about it until after you're married
