Ode to Lauryn Hill

With all this talk of Lauryn Hill making a come back I decided it was time to repost the ode I wrote to her a few years ago. Everyone has wanted her to make a come back for some years now, saying how much hip hop needs her, but I honestly don't think she needs to make a come back. She doesn't owe us anything and she gave us a timeless classic. The Ms. Education of Lauryn Hill is still relevant and probably always will be. So Lauryn, this one's for you!

The Plight of Super Woman

Everybody talkin' bout you done gone crazy

Everybody talkin' bout how much they miss you, lady

But they don't understand

The Plight of Wonder Woman

No they don't understand

The Plight of being Hip Hop's Super Woman

So much things to say

So much things to do

I'm a mother, singer, rapper, writer too

So I relate to you

They expect you to be strong

They don't realize they're expectations are wrong

Too much pressure on you

They beg of you to do

what they want you to do (make more music, be in the public eye)

regardless of what you going through

But who's there for you when you need someone too

That's why I wrote this song for you

Cuz they don't understand

The Plight of Wonder Woman

No, no, no! They don't understand

The Plight of Hip Hop's Super Woman
