How would you promote safe sex?

Have we become numb to the messages of safe sex (use a condom, protect yourself, get tested)? We all know about HIV/AIDS and STIs, it's become a part of our sexual lives but are people really taking their sexual health seriously?

Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network just announced their SAFE SEX PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT CONTEST. Their goal is to promote safe sex and empowerment through education at the upcoming 2010 Women's Empowerment Expo in Raleigh, NC, at the end of the month. Get all the contest details here before the contest ends on March 12.

Candidates will submit their video and the NYC WEEN Planning Committee will vote on 3 finalists. The finalists' videos will be placed on weenonline.org and WEEN members will have 48 hrs to vote on the video of their choice. The winner will be eligible for two round trip tickets to NYC, two tickets to attend the 2nd Annual WEEN Awards, and walk the Pink Carpet.

Don't Judge Me...Empower Me

How many women have you heard say, "I don't like girls/I don't hang with girls; they're petty/jealous/haters/bitches (insert negative noun here)?" It's such a bad look for us females, and it's so common that many men have picked up on this sort of gender betrayal and self-hate. Why are women so quick to judge another so harshly? The incredible goddess sisters at WEEN (Women In Entertainment Empowerment Network) are hosting a one-day interactive seminar, "Don't Judge Me...Empower Me," this Saturday, September 18 at the Alaine L. Locke School in Harlem (21 West 111 Street between 5th and 6th Aves) at noon. Join WEEN Chair Valeisha Butterfield among industry goddesses such as radio hostess, Angela Yee and activist, Maria Davis. It's open to women and young ladies of all ages.
